About Us
,
Our love of bolonki started in 2005. Having always been animal lovers we happened to stumble across a little Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka female named Sadu who needed rescuing. Sadu was not in the best of shape, she was one little ball of matts, fleas and dirt. There was nothing in her appearance that made her appealing whatsoever, except the sheer joy she exuded as she frolicked in the grass. As I watched her something pitter pattered in my heart! What was that ugly little thing that was getting so much joy out of being outside on the tiniest patch of grass in a yard full of mud!! Did I want to put her in the cab of the truck with us? I didn't want a dog again at that time of my life. Well maybe we could just clean her up get her vet checked and find her a home!! Well she turned out to be our first bolonka and the cutest little bug in the world. Our original plan was revised, a $50.00 trip to the groomer turned into a $1,000.00 plus trip to the vet and 6 months of bedside care and our family having a furry addition that we would never have imagined having. Sadu became Sadie. She was happy, strong, loving and fearless to the end. Having learned all the things normal dogs learn and enjoy. With her passing our search for another dog began. We decided to import this special rare breed and one thing led to another.
Susanna after leaving a career in law, is the owner of Luxury Pups' N Cuts's N Things, a certified groomer, certified vet assistant, dog walker, sitter, ring steward, does dog training and has experience in transporting animals. Aleina has both shown and worked as a ring steward along side her mother and father and is also a member of 4-H Canada. She completed a Veterinary Assistant course during Covid and has aspirations to become a vet.
Currently our dogs as well as our litters are registered with AKC FSS (American Kennel Club, Foundation Stock Service). IF and when there is are more breeders and people wanting to show in Canada this special breed they will hopefully become CKC recognized or UKC recognized). In the meantime we hope to build numbers here in Canada. In Canada the breed is considered a rare breed.
We currently are the Administrators of the facebook page "Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka in the Provinces of Canada". It was started in 2016 and is open for all Canadian owners and breeders to publish photos and information about the breed on, ask questions, build knowledge and interact with other owners of our pups and the breed.
Thanks to Sadie and the miracle of watching her blossom in our home and the joy that radiated out of her on a daily basis which spread to all of us and put our feet on the path we are now following, we would like to invite you to research more about our little breed, to take the time to get to know their temperament, care requirements and what a wonderful addition to any family they can be.
